August has arrived and as summer wanes and fall approaches, we are in the midst of a whirlwind of activity, making cheese from glorious summer milk and preparing for the premier cheese event of the year, the American Cheese Society (ACS) conference, whose competition & judging will be held in Seattle from August 25-28.
Our cheesemakers have been working hard to keep the “Best of Show” trophy here in Central Point for one more year. With over 1400 cheeses entered into competition, we have our work cut out for us. This year, we’ll be entering several “new” cheeses including varieties of our American original TouVelle Cheese. Look for a recap next month.
This month, our own David Gremmels will complete a successful 2-year term as President of the Board of ACS. To celebrate this milestone, we’ll take a peek into this important organization that promotes and supports American cheese.
On July 4th, our team had the honor of leading off the Central Point Independence Day Parade. The lead-up to this hometown fun included an extensive restoration on the Creamery truck, which dates back to the 1940’s. Don’t miss the article for the full story and photos.
Our recipes this month makes good use of the tomato bounty that is pouring in from gardens all over the state. Enjoy our TouVelle Tomato Pie for a tasty brunch or light dinner. If you’re camping out or having a barbecue, you’ve just gotta try the “Grown Up S’mores” featuring Caveman Blue. Delish!
Have an Awesome August,
The Rogue Creamery Team
